Paul Weller - one of England’s most influential and iconic musicians and songwriters – embarks on a national Australian tour this October.
Fans had waited more than 20 years for Paul Weller’s long-overdue, highly acclaimed and sold-out 2008 tour. Two years on, Weller returns to bring his Wake Up The Nation tour to an eagerly awaiting audience.
Tickets for the Modfather’s October tour will go on sale on Friday April 23rd.
On the same day Weller delivers his 10th solo album, Wake Up The Nation (Universal Music). Described as “the sound of Weller wide awake, ready to take the world on again,” the 14-track offering is already drawing rave reviews as Weller’s best to date, and includes two tracks featuring The Jam bassist Bruce Foxton.
Tickets purchased before Friday April 23rd – during the pre-sale running from noon on Friday April 16th to 5pm Thursday April 22nd - will receive a priority download of the new album Wake Up The Nation included in the ticket price.
Three lucky Weller fans who book during the pre-sale will also go into the draw to win Paul Weller back catalogue prizes including the deluxe Wild Wood, deluxe Wake Up The Nation, Just A Dream DVD and Hit Parade greatest hits album, courtesy of Universal Music Australia.
As leader singer of The Jam, Paul Weller fronted the most popular and influential British band of the era. Between their 1977 debut single release In The City to their break-up in 1982 The Jam charted 18 consecutive Top 40 singles in the UK, including four #1 hits – Going Underground, Start, Town Called Malice and their last single release Beat Surrender.
Teaming up Mick Talbot, Weller formed The Style Council in 1983, releasing diverse hit singles such as Speak Like A Child, Money Go Round, My Ever Changing Moods, Shout To The Top, Walls Come Tumbling Down, Long Hot Summer and Have You Ever Had It Blue.
After the demise of The Style Council in 1989, Weller later returned to prominence with critically acclaimed and popular solo albums – 1993’s Wild Wood and 1995’s Stanley Road – and more recently 2008’s 22 Dreams.
Weller returns to the stage, as he did in 2008, with band members guitarist Steve Cradock, bassist Andy Lewis, drummer Steve Pilgrim and Andy Crofts on keyboard.
Don’t miss the cool swagger and fervent rock ‘n’ roll of Paul Weller!
